About Us

We're Charity and David King! We have been married for 6 years. We are high school sweet hearts!

We have three dogs, Copper, Moose and Levi, our farm includes ducks, chickens, quail, and goats. 

We live in Florida where we are growing and building our homestead. 

The blog started with an idea for sharing the passion we have as homesteaders and to encourage others to join us on this journey. Big or small anyone can homestead right where you are, even on a budget. 

We hope you will join us on this journey to learn canning/preserving, gardening, living self-sufficiently, raising farm animals and so much more!  We are excited that you are here!  Thank you!

We're Brian and Penny DeBusk! We have been married for 30 years, have a beautiful daughter Charity, and a son-in-love David. 

 We have recently relocated to SW Georgia with our three dogs, Bentley, Beamer, Moonpie and our farm animals will be soon to follow.   We have a love for the "old ways", and simpler times.  Come along with us as we grow our homestead.  (Oh how I wish we would have paid more attention to grandma/grandpa).

Here at the Turquoise Chicken we aim to guide others as they are learning to homestead and learn from our mistakes.
